Sanctification means “to make holy” or to “set apart” and the experience of the “sanctified” according to Ephesians 3:16:19 is That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

Quite often we find in the bible that blessings of God follow after sanctification or a sanctified life. Again, it is a condition that God requires. The following are two examples: And Joshua said unto the people, sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you Joshua 3:5, and he said, ‘peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice. 1 Samuel 16:5

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 Timothy 2:21

Sanctification through the Word:

Jesus tells us in the bible that we are clean by and through His word. We are also sanctified through and by His word, which is truth. The bible tells us that we are not of the world. We are to be sanctified through Jesus’ truth and His word is truth.

John 17: 16, 17 : They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

John 15: 3: Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Ephesians 5:26: That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.

Sanctification of the Whole Life:

We are called to live a Holy sanctified or a “set apart” life because our Father who called us is Holy. Even our conversation is to be holy. It is God’s will for us. And the  very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5: 23.

Called to Live as Children of the Light: Epeshians 4:17-32

Forgiveness is a key to this life – vs. 32

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.

A Condition to Seeing God:

We cannot inherit heaven or see God without holiness, which is another word for sanctified. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. - Hebrew 12:14

Envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. - Galatians 5:21

Divine Requirement:

We have to be purged, and then we are vessels that God can pour into. And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. - 2 Corinthians 6:16 & 7:1

It is an Act of Worship& a Process:

We have to wake up each day and make a choice to walk further from the world and closer to Him.

Therefore I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- His good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:1-2
