The Church’s Purpose:

1.      To Make Disciples

2.      To Change Lives

3.      To Keep His Word

Great Commission: Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Needs to be delivered via The Great Commandment (Mark 12:29-31)

Need to start with a solid foundation – Matthew 7:24-27 (Visual example)

Our Responsibility:

Meeting together:

Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the day approaching. (NIV)

Iron Sharpens Iron – Proverbs 27:17

Grow in Grace and Knowledge:

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen. (NIV)

The example has been set – 2 Corinthians 8:9 and we need to pursue growth –1 Peter 2:2-3

Be Filled with the Spirit:

Ephesians 5:16-18 Making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil…Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery (wickedness). Instead, be filled with the Spirit. (NIV) Evidence of being filled = The Fruit of the Spirit- Galatians 5:22, 23

Giving Tithes and Offering:

Malachi 3:8-10: Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me. But you ask, How do we rob you? In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse, the whole nation of you because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, “says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. (NIV)

1   Corinthians 16:1-2: Now about the collection for God’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. (NIV)

2    Corinthians 9:7-8: Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (NIV)

Praying Earnestly:

Acts 12:5: So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. (NIV)

Ephesians 6:18: And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (NIV)

Be not ashamed of the Gospel, Acknowledge God before Men, and Preach the Gospel:

Matthew 10:32-33: Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

Acts 1:8: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of earth.

Acts 8:4: Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. (NIV)

Roman 1:16: I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. (NIV)

Proclaim it fearlessly – Ephesians 6:19-2
