About the College Tour:
The 3rd Annual New Life HBCU College Tour is hosted by NLC’s Identity Teen Ministry and begins on Sunday, April 14 to Thursday, April 18, 2019. To follow is a tour list of participating schools: Dillard University (New Orleans, Louisiana), Xavier University (New Orleans, Louisiana), Jackson State University (Jackson, Mississippi) Alcorn State University (Lorman, Mississippi), Southern University (Baton Rouge, Louisiana), LeMoyne Owen College (Memphis, Tennessee), and Rust College (Holly Springs, Mississippi).
Participates will enjoy a full tour of each school, one-on-one informational interviews, group lunches on the campuses, group dinners off campus as well as HBCU tips on how to stay connected to God while away at school. There will be Student Information sessions held at Grand Crossing Kid Care, 7522 S. Greenwood Avenue, on the following dates: Feb. 23rd; March 9th; March 23rd; and April 6th from 10 to noon. NLCSE’s Healthcare Ministry has launched Pozitive Living Support Monthly Meetings for those living with HIV. They have created a “safe” space just for you to learn, receive resources, meet others, and live your life after the diagnosis. ALL meetings will be held in a confidential, off-campus site. It is required that core team members are trained with the proper knowledge and understanding of how to travel this journey with you. There will be healthcare professionals, pastors, and counselors ready to help shape this support group into an empowering year for you. The Water Baptism is a Christian sacrament and symbol of the cleansing power of the blood of Christ. It is a testimony to your faith, and an outward expression of an inward decision to be buried with Jesus Christ. Through the waters of baptism you encompass the totality of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We host baptisms multiple times a year, so please join us for our next one scheduled on Saturday, March 16 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse, 4338 South Prairie. The baptism is FREE, but you are required to purchase a $10 t-shirt. Additionally, each participant will received a Water Baptism certificate.
